Jute based Livelihood Promotion: (Jute Service Center)

It is an attempt to Promote Enterprise Development in Jute Craft. Under the aegis of National Jute Board, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, Kolkata, skill development/up gradation programme have been implemented in various districts of Jharkhand. Since the effort is to promote jute based enterprise therefore, 60 SHGs have been formed so far and linked with JDP units. Here they are producing various jute products like Jute bags, mats, artifacts and by sell earning their livelihood. In addition, “Jute Raw Material Bank” and Marketing outlet has been established to ensure sustainability of the initiatives. Recently, a new initiative of “JDPs Cluster Development” programme has been initiated. The purpose of this programme is to develop cluster villages in product specific cluster. Such arrangement would ease the marketing of product as well as additional livelihood opportunity would be created. At present the programme is being implemented in Bokaro and East Singbhum district of Jharkhand.

Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hasta Shilpa Vikas Yojna:

Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hasta Shilpa Vikas Yojna is the flagship program of D.C. Handicrafts, Govt. of India and Ministry of Textile. This program aims at promoting Indian Handicrafts by Developing Artisan’s Clusters into professionally managed and Self Reliant Community Enterprises on the principles of effective member participation and mutual cooperation. The thrust of scheme is on a projected need based integrated approach for Sustainable Handicrafts Development through participation of Craft persons leading to their empowerment. In this connection training has been imparted of various aspects of craft includes skill up gradation, design dissemination, technical demonstration and marketing of crafts includes Bamboo, Dokra, Tribal Textile, etc
